Purple's Story

Purple is a 5-year-old Yorkie mix currently looking for a foster-to-adopt home while he continues healing from a serious untreated leg wound.

Purple came to us from a local animal control after his owners surrendered him with a wound that had gone untreated for nearly two months. He recently underwent surgery to close the wound and is healing well, but he still needs continued recovery time and monitoring.

Despite everything he has been through, Purple is a sweet, sensitive, and loving little dog. He can be nervous initially and needs time and patience to feel safe. Once comfortable, he becomes very affectionate and loyal. He loves dog beds, couch cuddles, wet food, and being close to his person.

Purple does well with dogs of all sizes and cats. Because he can become scared when overwhelmed, he would do best in a home without small children.

He is mostly potty trained and will walk nicely on a leash once he feels comfortable with his surroundings. He is also food motivated and enjoys squeaky toys, though he is currently limited because he must continue wearing an e-collar while healing.

His foster-to-adopt home must be able to bring him to Paw Prints in Southern Maryland for his required follow-up appointment in approximately 10 days.

Purple has been through a lot and deserves a calm, patient home where he can continue healing and finally feel safe and loved.

If you are interested in fostering-to-adopt Purple, please apply at www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form

If you have applied or been approved within the past 6 months, your application is already on file.

Questions dogs@lastchanceanimalrescue.org
