Purdy's Story

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State. We are a local foster home based rescue. ******MUST HAVE SECURELY FENCED PROPERTY ****** ******BLOODHOUND EXPERIENCE HELPFUL****** Purdy is a beautiful lady who will melt your heart with just one look. She is loving and sweet and she is dreaming of a family that will cherish her for the rest of her life. Purdy is tender hearted and bonds strongly with her people...she loves to be loved! If you are looking for a loyal companion who will be your best friend then Purdy is the one for you! Purdy enjoys the comforts of home more than she enjoys going on adventures. She is a true homebody. Purdy will need a securely fenced property so that her nose doesn't take her on adventures and no dog doors for this girl. Purdy has impeccable house manners. She is housebroken and quiet unless she feels the need to alert her people and she is great in the car. Purdy loves everyone and is great with children. She would be happiest in a home where she will be someone's one and only dog because she loves attention. She might be fine with a calm, submissive male dog and a meet and greet will determine that. Purdy is very respectful of the cats in her foster home and, although she might try to play chase every now and again, she would be fine in a home with them. Just give Purdy a comfy bed...or sofa...and she will rest until it's time for her next hug. Purdy recently received a Senior Wellness Exam with bloodwork. She also had surgery to remove excessive skin around her eyes. The excessive skin was causing vision impairment which has since improved with medicated eye ointment that she will need lifelong. This surgery included bilateral entropian repair which was needed to prevent the eyelids from rolling inward causing irritation from the eyelashes. Purdy made a full recovery although she does have diminished vision. She will need eye drops for the rest of her life to keep her eyes moist. The approximate value for the drops is $125.00 every two months. Purdy is spayed, microchipped and up to date on her vaccines. She is 8 years old and weighs 78 pounds. Please note, we have approximately a 250 mile adoption radius from Stanwood WA for our Senior Dogs. Save-A-Mutt may limit this distance based on the long term needs of this pet. We don’t adopt out of state except to the Vancouver BC area. We don’t ship dogs. Once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Save-A-Mutt's Adoption Policy

Save-A-Mutt is a Foster Based rescue. All our dogs are in foster homes, there is no facility to visit. All adopters are required to fill out an application. As we review the application, we may have questions - and prefer email to ask/answer them. So please check your email regularly. We may remove adoptable animals off of Petfinder while we work on applications - but will contact you to let you know. We like to have one good app per pet as not to disappoint people. It can take a couple days to finish an application, depending on your references, etc. Please let your references know that will be sending emails - they sometime go to junk mail. We enjoy open communication, but we are a volunteer organization, so please be patient. Once we receive all the information we need, we will schedule a phone interview, home check, etc. Thank you and we will be in touch! Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make acceptions only with the approval of the foster home.
