Puggington III's Story

*I am in a foster home. To meet me, please fill out an adoption application. Please reach out to our Foster Coordinator with any questions at gguerriere@cherrylandhumane.org.*

Meet Puggington III, affectionately known as Puggles, PugPug, Puggie, to his inner circle!

This wiggly 24 lb. little gentleman may greet you with a nervous vibe at first, but don’t let that fool you - underneath is a goofy, zoomy, soft-hearted boy just waiting for his people. Puggles is the kind of pup who likes to take his time getting to know you. He’s a “let me call the shots” kind of guy, and once you respect his pace? Oh, you’re in for the good stuff.

When he feels safe, his whole personality blooms. He gets wiggly, silly, and affectionate, offering sweet sits and even a polite shake for a tasty treat (soft and meaty are his favorite, thank you very much). He loves to sniff and explore the world at his own speed, and while toys aren’t really his thing, zooming around the yard and play-bouncing absolutely are. Once you’re in his trusted circle, he may even hop into your lap for a cuddle break.

Puggles can be sensitive with handling at first, especially being picked up or over-handled, and he prefers that new friends avoid reaching or grabbing. Think of him as a “consent first” kind of companion. As his comfort grows, so does his enjoyment of pets and gentle affection. He does best when introductions are slow, hands-off at first, and full of yummy treats. Multiple meet-and-greets will help set everyone up for success - and he’s absolutely worth the extra time. In his space, he appreciates respectful, slow approaches, especially from people he doesn’t know yet.

Puggles does have some resource guarding and is a nervous gentleman, so he would do best in a home with dog savvy mature humans, where he can be the only pooch to soak in the love. Pugs enjoys his space and can be quite the introvert when resting.

Puggles is looking for a patient, understanding home that sees the beauty in a dog who needs a little extra time. In return, you’ll get a loyal, silly, treat-loving companion whose confidence continues to grow every day. If you believe in slow friendships that turn into the very best kind, Puggington III might just be your perfect match.
