Prissy Shepherd Mix Bourbonnais, IL

Prissy is such a great and characteristic girl. I think she may be a Shepard/heeler mix maybe but don’t quote me on that. She has an estimated birthdate of April 2020.

Regardless of the breed though holy cow I love this girl. She is bursting at the seams with so much enthusiasm and willingness to engage and please. She will definitely be a dog that becomes a strong part of whatever family she is in.

She came in with her puppies and has done a great job and being a mama but she’s ready to say farewell to the excitement of the babies and go off and do fun doggie things. She responds very well to command, knows a lot of basic commands, has clearly been part of a family before.

She does get easily over excited that turns in to “rough” play but with a big yard and someone giving her direction she does phenomenally. Going on hikes/long walks, playing lots of fetch/games, letting her really exercise her most amazing little mind are all things that would benefit her and give you the best experience that you could have with her. Prissy is a bit "strong" on first introduction to new people, which is something that will need continued work in the new home. We do provide free training sessions for all dogs adopted through our shelter to make sure that adopters have all the best tools and resources when adopting a new pet.

Prissy will need an adopter with experience with dogs like her. She needs work to do and structure to keep her at her best. She has a protective nature that needs the right handler to know how to control and guide her properly.

We have not cat tested her yet but that is coming in the very near future and as of so far she’s been good in brief meetings with other dogs. Totally whatever to them. We will be doing more one on one playtime and assessing her ability to live long term with other canine companions.

All of our dogs are fully vetted prior to adoption. This includes spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing, rabies and parvo combo vaccines, deworming, current heartworm and flea and tick prevention. They also leave for their new furever home with a leash, collar, bag of food, bag of treats, toy, blanket, all medical records and adoption contract paperwork.
