Pretzel's Story

Meet Pretzel – Twisted by Hardship, But Still Sweet at the Center

Not long ago, Pretzel was surviving the only way he knew how—emaciated, scared, and scavenging for scraps in a world that had forgotten him. He was found eating a dead bird just to stay alive. But even in that moment, there was a flicker of hope in his eyes—and that’s when everything changed.

Since then, Pretzel has been recovering in a loving foster home, slowly untangling from the fear and hunger that once defined his days. Now he’s looking for a new place to continue his journey—his current foster, though heartbroken, can no longer keep him due to severe allergies.

Pretzel is the kind of dog who wraps himself around your heart and doesn’t let go. He’s a soft, gentle, affectionate soul who just wants to be near his people—his “Velcro dog” tendencies are part of his charm. He’s crate trained, quiet, smart, and incredibly treat-motivated. He’s working hard on his potty training (belly bands help for now) and getting better every day on leash and with his anxiety.

He’s great with kids, dog-social with slow, proper introductions, and absolutely adores snuggling. He sleeps soundly through the night—he finds comfort in a salt lamp, soft music, and the feeling of being safe at last.

Pretzel’s perfect match? A patient home with a fenced yard, a friendly dog to learn from, and people who believe in the magic of second chances. He’s not just looking for a place to stay—he’s searching for a family who will show him that love is here to stay.

Soft, sweet, and just a little bit salty—Pretzel is ready to finally feel whole. Will you be the one to help him continue his story?

Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.

APPLY on our WEBSITE:
Rebeldogsdetroit.com/applytoadopt
Rebeldogsdetroit.com/becomeafoster
