Pretty Pearl's Story

Hi, I’m Pearl.

I’m about 8 pounds of silky fluff, strong opinions, and a heart that’s learning how to feel safe again.

I’m one year old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and fully convinced that strangers are… well… highly suspicious. Possibly villains. Definitely to be judged from a safe distance. This is not because I’m mean — it’s because I’ve lived through a lot more chaos than a tiny dog like me ever should have. When I came into rescue, I was dirty, flea-infested, and absolutely terrified. The world felt loud and unpredictable, and I learned that being a little bossy was one way to protect myself.

The good news? With a little help of some puppy prozac, I am learning that I am now safe and ready to for my forever person. I’m playful, curious, silly, and surprisingly brave when I feel secure. I love car rides, walk beautifully on a leash, and I’m house trained, crate trained, and even potty-pad trained (yes, I’m very accomplished). I get along well with other dogs and cats, and I don’t bark much or struggle when left alone.

I do best in a calm, peaceful home — ideally with a patient, experienced adopter who understands that some little dogs come with big personalities and tender histories. Older kids (12+) are fine, but I really shine with quiet adults who appreciate a tiny dog who occasionally believes she is the household manager.

What I need most is patience, consistency, and someone who can laugh gently when I puff myself up like a very small, very serious guard dog — then give me the time I need to relax and show my softer side. Because once I trust you, I’m loyal, loving, and endlessly entertaining.

I may be small, but I’m mighty. And I’m ready for a peaceful forever where I can finally just be… Pearl.

To be considered for this little girl, please submit an application at www.pacificanimalsociety.org
