Presto's Story
Everyone loves Presto. It's just a fact of life. The sky is blue. Grass is green. Water is wet. Presto is everyone's boyfriend. We don't question it and you shouldn't either.

Presto is a little over three years old and a little over 25lbs. He's an Australian shepherd so his legs are absurdly long and he's probably taller than you think he is.

Presto is going through some pretty big life changes. He's not sure why he ended up here or what's going on and he's trying really hard to be a good sport about it but he has a lot of anxiety and a lot of restless energy. Some of that restless energy IS because of his breed but most of it is because he's just trying to figure out what's happening and what's going to happen next and trying to map out every possible outcome of a situation (if you also have anxiety, you know exactly what we're talking about). We've been spending some extra time with him and he's slowly but surely opening up to us and showing us what a good, resilient boy he really is.

Once he likes you and he trusts you, that's it. He's imprinting on you like a duckling. He doesn't pull too much on a leash and definitely enjoys his walks but he does tend to zigzag - it's the Aussie ADHD brain kicking in where he has to smell everything all at once. He does well with other dogs but tends to prefer the company of people and will gravitate towards his handler. We would prefer not to place him with cats - he hasn't shown any aggression towards them but also doesn't seem to understand what an angry cat is and kept going back for more and will definitely get himself smacked by the pointy end of a grumpy cat. Kids 12+ because he's such a nervous guy right now.

We're looking for a family or an adopter with breed experience. Aussies are high energy and wildly intelligent so they need constant physical and mental stimulation. While Presto isn't ALWAYS on the go (he does appreciate snuggles and stopping to smell the flowers), he will require more exercise than what a "typical" dog would need.

To apply visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application.
