Porter's Story
Porter may be a "little" puppy now, but this peppy pup has a big personality-and he's expected to grow into a big, energetic boy! He is playful, rambunctious, and always ready for fun, but once playtime is over, he becomes a total cuddle bug. He loves curling up with his people on the couch, so a home that welcomes pets on the furniture would make him very happy!

Porter gets along wonderfully with his foster family's large dog and has even been attempting the agility course alongside him. He also lives with cats and mostly wants them to become his new best friends. Because he is still learning to respect their space, he could likely live successfully with confident, easygoing cats, but may be too enthusiastic for senior or nervous cats.

One of Porter's favorite activities is fetch! A fenced yard where he can run and play would be ideal, although an active adopter with a dog-centered lifestyle could also make apartment living work. His outings are currently limited until he is fully vaccinated, but he has been practicing his leash manners in the yard and is making encouraging progress.

Porter is doing an excellent job with both house and crate training. He has had a few expected puppy potty accidents, but he is becoming more consistent about going outside and letting his foster family know when he needs a break. He keeps his crate clean, settles well, and sleeps through the night. He has also shown no destructive behavior in his crate.

This smart cookie loves learning! Porter quickly learned his name and "sit," and he already has a strong start on recall and "down." He is now working on "place" and "settle." With continued training, plenty of exercise, and appropriate outlets for his growing-puppy energy, he has the potential to become an incredible companion.

Porter has not yet been around children, so his fit with young kids is still unknown. He has not shown mouthy behavior, which is encouraging, but his future size and energetic play style should be considered. Porter is looking for an engaged family ready to continue his training, keep him active, include him in their adventures, and provide plenty of cuddles at the end of the day!
