Poptart's Story

Meet Poptart!

We are estimating Poptart to be somewhere around 6-8 years old, but honestly, we aren’t exactly sure. Her past didn’t exactly come with paperwork.

Poptart’s story started under a bridge in Wickliffe, Ohio, where she was found as a stray in pretty terrible condition. She was filthy, her ears were badly infected, and her ears had been crudely cropped at some point in her past. It was obvious this girl had not had an easy life.

Once Poptart came to us, we quickly realized there was even more going on medically. X-rays showed what appeared to be a large mass in her abdomen. During surgery, we discovered that the “mass” was actually her left ovary, which weighed an unbelievable 2.35 pounds. It was removed and Poptart was spayed. During that surgery, old metal sutures from a previous C-section were also found, giving us another glimpse into what her life may have looked like before she came to the rescue.

Poptart also had a significant case of entropion, a painful condition where the eyelids roll inward and cause the eyelashes and hair to rub against the eyes. She has since undergone surgery to correct it and is doing great.

After everything she has been through, you might expect Poptart to be a complicated dog. She really isn’t.

Poptart is completely potty trained and has a laid-back, affectionate personality. She absolutely LOVES riding in the car and would happily go everywhere with her person. She’s a big snuggler, loves attention, and really just wants to be wherever her people are.

She has met another dog and did very well. She was friendly, social, and very interested in making a new friend. She does enjoy having her bowls and special bones to herself, so high-value items should simply be managed appropriately in a multi-dog home.

We do not know how Poptart does with cats and unfortunately do not have a way to cat test her.

Poptart is not exactly training for a marathon. She’s pretty content being a couch potato and doesn’t have much interest in long walks. She likes to explore a little when she’s outside, but ultimately she wants to be close to her people.

A few other important Poptart facts: she loves anything she can fit in her mouth, gives little pittie nibbles when she gets excited, thinks attention should be directed toward her at all times, hates rain and pretty much any type of wetness, and strongly objects to grass touching her low-hanging boobies.

Basically, our little bridge troll is looking for someone who appreciates a snuggly, slightly ridiculous, car-loving couch potato.

Medical care completed:
Poptart is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative, has had full bloodwork, and has undergone corrective entropion surgery. Her badly infected ears have also been treated.

Adoption fee: $350

Applicants must live within a one-hour driving distance of Cleveland, Ohio. A complete and approved adoption application is required prior to an in-home meet and greet.

After everything Poptart has survived, she deserves the easy part now: a comfortable couch, people who adore her, plenty of car rides, and a home where she never has to worry about being discarded again.
