Thank you!<br/><br/><br/>Poppy is an adorable, sweet and smart Shih Tzu puppy who is very petite. Were expecting that she will be around 5 pounds as an adult. She was born March 20, 2026, so shes still a very young puppy. Shes mini but mighty. She has a big personality in that little body. She should have been named Dora, as in Dora the Explorer. Shes figured out that if her head fits any gap, she looks for those gaps in any enclosure, and slip right through them. Shes going to need an active family that can keep her busy and challenged.<br/><br/><br/>Poppy loves to play when shes not looking for holes in the perimeter. Shes very good at jumping and working her way up onto things and displays no fear of heights, constantly trying to make it to the top of the back of the sofa. Shes very gifted in getting into spots you would not expect.<br/><br/><br/>Shes very friendly and her foster family feels she would do well with other small pets or respectful older children. Poppy is a bit of a trip hazard as shes very tiny and stays very close to your feet, so you have to constantly keep an eye out for her. She also loves to cuddle on the couch next to your face and gives lots of kisses!<br/><br/><br/>These are the requirements for Poppys new family:<br/><br/><br/>1. Because Shih Tzus can live 16+ years, applications will only be accepted from age appropriate individuals who will be able to provide the care, activity and support for Poppy for her entire life.<br/><br/>2. A family with children over the age of ten who have demonstrated how to gently and appropriately interact and care for a small dog will be considered.<br/><br/>3. A secure fenced yard would be great, but Poppy needs close supervision because shes so curious. When shes older shell enjoy daily walks.<br/><br/>4. Poppy will shine with training. She loves to learn new things and catches on quickly. Training classes are important and are highly recommended for her to bond, socialize and learn good manners.<br/><br/>5. A family where someone is home much of the day and night to continue her housetraining. Little puppies need to initially be taken out at least every two hours.<br/><br/>6. Provide lots of opportunities to socialize. Poppy would like to be an integral part of her new familys life and will need lots of new experiences and challenges to grow into a well adjusted pup.<br/><br/>7. Live within 30 miles of Shoreview, MN.<br/><br/>8. Agree to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year.<br/><br/><br/>Poppy has had her first puppy DAPP vaccination and is microchipped. Her adopters must provide required vaccinations as she becomes a bit older. Because she is too young to be spayed, her adopters must agree to have her spayed within six months, and pay a spay deposit which will be refunded upon proof of her spay surgery.<br/><br/><br/>The adoption fee for Waffles is $520.00 plus $46.93 sales tax and the additional refundable spay deposit of $150.00, for a total fee of $716.93.<br/><br/><br/>To meet Poppy, please complete an adoption application at the website listed in the first paragraph.
