POPPY's Story

MEET MS. POPPY….a very sweet, very unique looking (one eye with black eyelashes and the other with white!), 3 yr old, white/gray, 12 lb girl who looks like a Lhasa/Maltese mix. It’s difficult to tell with her current haircut (shaved before we got her), so her breed is still a bit of a mystery? This poor baby was hit by a car and left on the side of the road 🙁 A good Samaritan saw the accident, called Animal Control and got her to the Harbor Animal Shelter. They sent out a rescue blast and we answered the call! Poppy has a broken pelvis, but she is healing well and will likely be available by May 10-17, when she is 100% healed (expected to make a full recovery).

It’s difficult to evaluate Poppy’s personality, since she is mostly getting cage rest, but we can tell you with 100% certainty that once this girl is out of her crate nothing will stop her! Even with a pelvis that isn’t completely healed, she is doing her best to walk, even run, if we don’t stop her! She gives lots of kisses and wants to play, play, play. She does not like being left alone in her crate and she will let you know! Otherwise, she seems quiet and happy. She loves other dogs and definitely should have one of her own!

Because of her activity level, we don’t think Poppy would be well suited for a senior home. She’d love to become a part of an active family, with another dog, or an individual who wants a full time companion to spoil and love. Does that sound like you? Apply now, she won’t last long!
