Popcorn is a tiny, 3 month old Chihuahua / Dachshund mix puppy who currently weighs just 5 pounds. He will be a small sized adult, likely around 10 - 15 pounds when fully grown, though that's just our best estimate. Popcorn's mom is full grown at 11 lbs.<br/>We do not DNA test our rescue dogs, and since the dad is a complete mystery, we can only make educated guesses. Mom was a Chihuahua mix, and her photo is included above!<br/><br/>Popcorn's story began in rural New Mexico, where his mom was adopted from a shelter without being spayed first. Her adopter had no idea she was pregnant. When she had her puppies, momma dog and her litter of six gorgeous, 4 week old puppies were surrendered to one of our rescue partners shelters, and we were able to step in and bring this little family to safety.<br/><br/>Popcorn has been here in Colorado with one of our fosters since he was 4 weeks old. Now all 5 of his siblings and his mom have been adopted... Popcorn is the last one looking for his forever home! <br/><br/>(Popcorn is the one playing with his sister in the video and then playing with his fosters toes!)<br/><br/>From Popcorn's foster:<br/>"Popcorn is the sweetest puppy of all!!! He is so affectionate, loves to cuddle, and is just the sweetest sweetie pie. I'm shocked he still hasn't been adopted! He gives kisses and loves to be held. He also loves to play and LOVES toys!"<br/><br/>Popcorn is looking for a family ready for all the fun, laughter, training, and occasional chaos that comes with a young puppy. Puppies require patience, consistency, socialization, training, and lots of love as they learn about the world around them. In return, you'll get the incredible experience of watching a tiny puppy grow into your best friend.<br/><br/>We feel that Popcorn would do great in a home with someone who works from home, and has the time and energy to train a young puppy. We would feel comfortable with him going to a family with kids 6+ years of age.<br/><br/>Since Popcorn is just a puppy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. We are not willing to adopt to someone who is unable to commit to taking Popcorn to puppy socialization classes and training.<br/><br/>Popcorn is up to date on his vaccines, but too young to be fully vaccinated yet. He still needs 1 more booster shot and Rabies is not given until 4 months of age. Popcorn is also too young to be neutered at this time. Farfel's does not cover any vaccines after pick up, however we DO cover the full cost of his neuter when that time comes.<br/>Neuter is REQUIRED to finalize any adoption. Per the state of Colorado, you will be legally considered a foster until the dog is neutered. Neuter must be done before or by the time he turns 1 year old, NO later.<br/><br/>Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog.
