Pop Tart and Pickles were part of a hoarding case in Louisiana. The person that was breeding them passed away. A few days later, the sheriff's department went for a welfare check. The breeder had passed away and all of the dogs were without water, food and in quite despicable conditions. It had been more than a few days since she had tended them.<br/>We were called to step up and we offered to take three in total. <br/>WE THOUGHT...."These pups are going to NEED A few weeks to trust and settle. Their entire lives were spent in a crate the size of the inside of a standard oven. " <br/>But I need to be so honest, here/... They start a bit shy.. then forggggitttabouuuutit!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're prancing around sweet as all get out! they are in love with the food that we have and even more for the cookies!!!!! <br/>They really surprised me !!!!!!! Pop Tart is a bit more social and trusting than Pickles - but really, they are sweet and just so attentive! <br/><br/><br/><br/> The foster advised us that she brought Pickles and PopTart to her house after their surgery. Once all eight of her dogs were finished with their sniffs and introductions, The two started wiggling tails and opening up. <br/>He is SMALL (8 pounds !!!!) and they will not get any larger. <br/><br/>As always, the rule of 3 applies:<br/><br/>3 Days: Dogs may feel overwhelmed, nervous, and unsure. They might not eat much and could be scared or cautious around you and your family. <br/>3 Weeks: Dogs start to settle in, feeling more comfortable and beginning to understand their new routine. They may show their true personality and start to trust you more. <br/>3 Months: Dogs are further adjusted to their new surroundings, people, and animals. They begin to feel truly comfortable and integrate into the household. <br/><br/>This guideline helps set realistic expectations for both pets and owners during the transition into a new home. <br/><br/>Do NOT allow your new pet to get loose outside ..... Flight risks are so real and more so prior to 3 months of ownership. a 10 pound dog can be the victim of many a woodland creature ; let alone the COLD. <br/><br/>Fill an application at LittleRhodyRescue.org and TELL YOUR REFERENCES AND VET that we will be calling!
