Polar's Story
Meet Polar, a two-year-old Siberian Husky mix weighing around 50 pounds.

With his striking good looks and adorable speckled nose, Polar is a handsome Husky who's ready to find a home of his own. Like many Huskies, he's intelligent, independent, and enjoys having the freedom to explore his world while still forming strong bonds with his people.

When Polar first arrived, he was shy and a little aloof as he adjusted to shelter life. Since then, he's come out of his shell tremendously and has become much more comfortable with the people he knows. Watching his confidence grow has been a joy!

Polar walks nicely on a leash, knows how to "sit," and is always happy to accept a tasty treat. While he enjoys spending time with people, he also has an independent streak and is perfectly content entertaining himself or relaxing nearby.

Polar has also done well during a meet-and-greet with other dogs. He would do best with canine companions who are respectful of his space and happy to simply coexist, rather than dogs who are overly playful or constantly in his business.

As with many Huskies, Polar will thrive with an adopter who appreciates the breed's intelligence, enjoys providing regular exercise and mental enrichment, and understands that Huskies often like to do things on their own terms. In return, you'll gain a loyal, unique companion with a quiet charm that's well worth getting to know.

If you're looking for a handsome, independent best friend with a gentle heart, Polar may be the perfect match for you.

This pet is available for adoption on 4/19/2026 at 5:19 PM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
