Poby's Story
FOSTER/ADOPTER NEEDED!
Poby, Bellevue WA

If you are interested in fostering, please visit our website to read more about our foster program, and email us:

www.twodogfarms.com/foster
info@twodogfarms.com

If you are interested in adoption, again, please email us, and we can put you in touch with his current family.

Poby is a young neutered male Jindo, aged about 2.5 yrs old, that is currently in Bellevue, WA, with his family, but they have made the decision to try and rehome him, for no negative reasons other than that the wife is injured and unable to walk him, and the husband feels rather overwhelmed by the typical Jindo behaviors, like shedding, and high prey drive for local rabbits etc.
Poby is up to date with his shots, receiving flea/tick preventatives monthly, and fit and healthy.
One of our local trusted volunteers visited him at home, and suggested he is probably under 50lbs at present, but could perhaps put on a few extra pounds without problems.

Notes from his current family:

"He will mostly ignore people on the street. His reaction to other dogs depends on if he is in our local neighborhood (may be reactive to) vs at the dog park or other location that is not home (friendly and likes to play/run with). He has high prey drive and tries to chase rabbits if he sees them on our street.
He eats mainly kibble (blue buffalo), supplemented with boiled chicken breast, occasional hardboiled egg, treats. Poby gets a daily walk and sometimes trips to large dog park or trails.
He is both an indoor and outdoor dog, and likes to sleep outside in doghouse in backyard.
He knows come, sit, lay down, leave it. He will pull on leash when on a walk unless the leash is made very short.
He doesn't love being scratched on top of head but will tolerate it. Otherwise likes being scratched, esp neck, belly, back, legs. Doesn't love baths but has learned to tolerate it. Likes going on walks. Loves playing tug of war with stuffed raccoon/rabbit toy.
Poby is fine riding in the car, and will jump up into trunk of SUV, can be lifted as needed, once realizing he is at the vet will resist going in initially.
He has no separation anxiety. If not walked or given exercise/stimulation he may try to chew on trees or plants in the yard."
Poby was obtained from a local breeder who does not want to take him back.

Notes from our volunteer:

"Overall he seems like a really great young dog. I rang the doorbell and I heard him bark a few times before his owners told him to leave it. He was held back by leash until I got seated and he came to sniff me curiously. Within 10 minutes he was scooching his butt to me and asking for scratches. Turned onto his back and asking for pets on his belly. Hes been living outside for some time but gets bathed regularly. He gets brought in when the weather is too hot or cold. He has had some nipping incidents with his owners but mostly when they have either taken away high value treats without notice or redirection when breaking up dog scuffles with dogs within their neighborhood. No biting incidents or drawing blood. I went on a walk with him and saw the undesired behavior that the owner spoke about. But to me, it was not a visceral or strong reaction. We saw a dog across the street and he was pulling and panting as he was trying to pull on the leash to go that direction. No barking, whining, or growling.
During the walk, when the dog was reacting to the dog across the street, I gave him a bit of a poke on his side to snap him out of it and he got confused and we were able to carry on walking immediately without any more issue.
Hes a sweet boy that doesnt really have any issues. No history of biting, has scuffles with dogs every so often but is not aggressive, generally does well at dog parks, and likes people. Hes not as aloof or timid as most jindos Ive met, and seems happy in his current living situation."
