PIXIE - Pending Adoption's Story

Hola! My name is Pixie ('Chispita' in Mexico) and here's more about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

Breed: Spaniel mix (best guess!)
Age: approx 2 years 2 months approx.
Gender: Female
Weight: 22lbs (10 kg)
Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico

RESCUE STORY - I was found living on the streets of Guadalajara with an unhoused hooman and my little sister. One day, our hooman disappeared and never came back! Unfortunately the area I lived in was very unsafe and some peoples were violent towards us. A kind person decided to help up out by feeding us, but the neighbors would threaten us - they simply didn't want pups around. One day, they poisoned my sister!! That's when the kind person reached out to my rescuer for help, and that's how I made it to the vet (where I am being fostered) and my rescue story began! I am now thankfully safe and sound and in good health, however I have a tick/twitch in one of my hind legs. The vet believes this is a remnant from distemper. This doesn't hinder me or affect my daily life at all. In other words, I am a double survivor!

TEMPERAMENT - I am a little joy around the vet clinic where I'm currently being fostered! I know how to wait patiently in my crate and I love coming out to greet everyone who visits the clinic. I also loooove going on walkies. I am quite food-motivated and would probably be a dream to train! I am not noisy, and am a VERY sweet and affectionate pup. The hoomans around me say I always provide lots of laughs and am a huge fan of cuddles. I can share treats around other dogs without any issues, but I do guard my food bowl (I still remember my times having to fight for food to survive, you see). Due to this, I feel more comfortable eating in my own crate and would do well with an adopter who is understandeable/willing to work with me on this!

ENERGY LEVEL - Medium

GETS ALONG WITH:

Kids – Unknown
Dogs – Yes! I live at a vet clinic and am around lots of other pups.
Cats – No thank you!

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I'm not too sure how I'll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

Leash skills – My rescuers say I am good with my leash skills, however I may need some additional patience and training :)
House trained – My rescuer says I am good with this but I may need some additional training and patience.
Crate trained – My rescuer says I am very good with this but I may need some additional training and patience.
Car rides – My rescuer says I am good with this but I may need some additional training and patience.

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

I have a tick/twitch in one of my hind legs. The vet believes this is a remnant from distemper. This doesn't hinder me or affect my daily life at all. My recent test for Distemper came out negative and I am now vaccinated against it.
I am spayed and vaccinated.
NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.

-------------------------------------

DISCLAIMER:

Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process.

The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.

WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.
