Piper's Story

Meet Piper - tiny dog, big opinions, and absolutely no chill when squirrels are involved

Piper is a 5-month-old Chihuahua mix weighing about 11 pounds of selective bravery and dramatic flair. She's the type of puppy who will carefully assess a situation for 3-5 business days... and then suddenly decide she is, in fact, fearless and capable of great things.

And she has been brave. Very brave. Occasionally "did I just see her run full speed outside like she owns the place?" brave. Piper has discovered the outdoors, and with it, her newest obsession: squirrels. She now believes she is personally responsible for monitoring all squirrel activity in a 10-mile radius. It is a very important job. No breaks.

Inside, she's still working on her confidence arc, but once comfortable, Piper reveals her secret personality: toy enthusiast, professional squeaker destroyer, and rope-chewing connoisseur. If it squeaks, she will test its structural integrity. Repeatedly. Loudly. With enthusiasm.

She also enjoys a good zoom route-especially ramps and stairs, which she navigates like she's training for canine parkour championships. Up, down, repeat, possibly for no reason other than she can.

Socially, Piper is still in her "careful observer of society" phase. She does well with other dogs but prefers polite interactions and absolutely no chaos gremlins. If play gets too intense, she will respectfully excuse herself and go rethink her life choices in her bed. Feeding time is solo only-she is not interested in group dining experiences or questionable food-sharing arrangements.

Car rides remain... controversial. Piper believes moving vehicles are suspicious inventions that should be studied further before participation.

But here's the thing-beneath all the sass and caution is a really sweet little girl who is learning, growing, and gaining confidence every day. And when she trusts you? She's affectionate, loyal, and very likely to follow you around like you might accidentally miss something important without her supervision.

Piper at a glance:
Breed: Chihuahua mix (tiny athlete, part-time squirrel investigator)
Age: 5 months
Weight: 11 lbs of curiosity and caution
Brave moments: increasing daily, especially outdoors
Favorite hobby: squirrel surveillance
Toy preference: ropes, squeakers, anything that can be dramatically de-fluffed
Special skills: ramp zoomies, stair mastery, emotional exits
Good with dogs: yes, but prefers calm coworkers
Cats/kids: unknown, still evaluating
Personality: shy, smart, playful, surprisingly adventurous when she forgets to be nervous

Piper isn't just a "shy puppy." She's a slow-burn adventure story with zoomies, squirrel missions, and squeaky toy destruction as key plot points.

If you've got patience, a calm home, and a willingness to be casually followed by a tiny squirrel detective with trust issues and a big heart, Piper might just pick you as her person.

Tired Dog Rescue adoption fee includes all sets of vaccinations, heartworm test, fecal exam, spay/neuter and microchip. We also recommend that you research the breed that you want to adopt. Ask yourself....Can you afford the cost of a high maintenance dog such as a Cocker Spaniel or Shih-tzu etc? The grooming costs are about 50.00 every 6-8 weeks. Are you in a position to adopt a puppy which will require training? Can you afford the medical costs that might be involved in adopting a senior pup? We want every adoption to be for life so please think about what you can and what you are willing to do before considering each pet. If you are unsure please contact us and we can help answer any questions.
