Meet Piper

Piper is an almost 4-year-old Lab mix (her DNA test shows she’s 47% Lab mixed with small percentages of many other breeds) who was regretfully given up due to her owner developing a severe allergy to her. He has tried all sorts of medications and made changes to his house to no avail.

Piper is used to going to doggy daycare once or twice a week on days her owner isn’t working from home and plays with the other dogs there. She also had dog friends in her neighborhood. She loves long walks, playing in the snow and chewing on tough toys. She would do best in a quieter home as she gets scared easily by loud noises but will just run away/hide from them if she has a quiet area to go to. She would love a house with a yard where she could run around. She adores belly rubs. She doesn't have much experience with children but enjoys getting pets from anyone with a treat. She knows Sit, Down, Up, Stay, Come, and Go To Bed (crate). She’s pretty good on leash, though she does pull a bit. She is a very sweet dog!

The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an adoption application here: medfieldshelter.com/adopt

If a dog is listed on our website, he/she is still available for adoption, but there may be applications ahead of yours. We typically receive many applications for every dog we post. All adoption meetings are by appointment. Our dog adoption fee for dogs five years old or younger is $350. Every dog we place receives age-appropriate vaccines, is wormed, treated for ticks/fleas, tested for heartworm, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before adoption. We send each dog home with a collar and leash. Please fill out the adoption application if you want to be considered for a dog you see in our care.

With very few exceptions, dogs are happiest and the most well-behaved when they receive daily exercise and ongoing training, so we always prefer to place our dogs with families willing to commit to both.
