Piggy Wiggy's Story

Dog Name: Piggy Wiggy.

Breed: Mixed.

Sex: Male.

Age: 7 months.

Weight: 40lbs.

Medical Needs: Came to us with a skin infection which the vet believes was due to some kind of allergy flare up. Currently on prednisone to clear it up. Recommended that he take fish oil pills and Zyrtec. If problem persists, adopters may need to look into the cause further.

Housebroken: He's great with a schedule but has had accidents in his crate while we are away. 5 hours max in there with no accidents — make sure he goes potty beforehand. He will alert when you're home and he has to potty whether he's in his crate or out with you.

Crate trained: Yes, goes right in for a treat. Other than the occasional accidents in there he's fine. I imagine he'd voice his displeasure at his new home (at first, like he did at his foster home) to test his authority.. don't give in! He relaxes in there, I promise.

Good in the car: No, the worst. He will be relentless with trying to get in your lap and lick your face the entire time. He will require a harness and a seatbelt for everyone's safety or to be crated.

Good on a leash: Yes and no. He has his moments where he stays right with you (while strutting his stuff ) and others where he's trying to play with you and acting like a mad man. As of recently he's also started to try to play tug-o-war with the leash, we are working on that — very stubborn.

Energy level: Medium to high. He definitely has spurts of crazy zoomies.

Need a fenced in yard: Yes! He would absolutely love it to run freely and let those jowls fly.

Dog Friendly: Yes! Everyone is his friend.

If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No.

Cat Friendly: Unknown. No cats in foster home.

Kid Friendly: Yes.

If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? 5+ with proper supervision. He is a little bouncing bull when excited. So, sturdy children would be best.

Traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Piggy wiggy is not only adorable but he has the most fun personality — so silly, so full of shenanigans. You can't help but smile with his little face around. I don't know what is cuter — between his little happy booty always wiggling around, his one or two bottom teefers sticking out or you can almost always find him with his little tongue sticking out. He's cute and he knows it. He has main character energy for sure, he's gained a lot of fans his short time being in rescue. He loves to play outside, he'll chase you around if you let him and it is the absolute cutest! He'll play with his fur friends too but they're gonna have to be okay with his wild play style. He's such a goofball and acts like a little bull bouncing around.. so don't act like you weren't warned. Some of his favs are meal times, treats, getting loved on, toys (especially his ginormous stuffed dinosaur that doubles as a pillow for him) and his kong stuffed with easy treat. If you think you can handle all of Piggy's demands (needs) fill out an app today! He's ready to bring his happy booty to his loving fur-ever home and reward you with all his kisses.

Fosters Location: New Castle, DE

Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app)
