Meet Phoenix $400

Dear future pawrents, I'm Phoenix, and buckle up 'cause my story's about to tug at your heartstrings and tickle your funny bone. I’m gonna tell you why you should pick me, a 60 lb. neutered certified lover boy, as your next family member. Oh yeah, I'm 2 years old, but I turn 3 next month!

Ok, so picture this: this winter, I was found as a scrappy and stinky stray, wandering the woods like a lost soul, hoping my family would want me back. But thanks to some (kind of scary) new people and a big trap that I got suckered into with some delicious grub, I found myself in a place filled with love and second chances. I really needed a second chance. Why do you think I was named Phoenix, after all?!

I've been through the wringer, let me tell ya. Abandoned and forgotten by those who should've had my back. I was skin and bones and in a lot of pain from an infection I developed because my collar was embedded in my neck. (Yuck, it was stinky!) But thankfully, I landed in the arms of people who saw my potential. And let me tell you, folks, I've blossomed into the sweetest, most loving pup you'll ever meet. Not only have I gained 15 lbs and have my physical wounds healed, I've got a heart as big as the sky, a cute smile with the slightest underbite, and plenty of tail wags to go around!

Now, I've got my quirks, I won’t lie! Meeting new people scares the biscuits outta me, but I'm working on it, one paw at a time. And when I spot my furry friends on walks, well, let's just say I've been known to do a happy dance that rivals anything you've ever seen.

But here's the scoop: The humans who have nursed me back to health say I’m a quick learner and a great listener! Give me a bone (just not fish flavored, I’ll spit that thing right out) and a little guidance, and I'll show you what I'm made of. I'm an excellent house guest, with good manners but silly puppy clumsiness that'll keep you entertained for hours. I play and share (better than your toddler or teenagers) with both doggy and people friends, and I've even mastered the art of cuddling. I’ve been told that I make a sound that envies that of a gremlin when I’m comfy and about to fall asleep and spring up like a pogo stick when I’m excited, both of which get lots of laughs.

And when it's time to hit the hay, you can count on me to snooze through the night in my cozy crate (or snuggle up with you humans if you let me). So here's the deal: I'm on the lookout for a forever home where I can share my big heart and goofy antics. And a doggy sibling would be the bee's knees, they really help me with my confidence. Will you take a chance on this scrappy survivor with a heart of gold? Trust me, you won't regret it. Let's make some memories together, please?

If you would like to be considered as a potential adopter for one of our great dogs, please go to our website- www.luckymuttsrescue.org and submit an application. Our application process includes landlord approval and vet checks. Please make sure all of your information is current and accurate, including a valid email address and phone numbers. Inaccuracies and/or incomplete data will delay and/or cancel your application. We strive to process all applications in a timely manner, but with the high volume of applications we are receiving, it is taking anywhere from 1-3 weeks. You may be contacted via email if there are concerns or questions. Once all of your information is reviewed and if your application is approved, you will be notified via email. Submitting an application and receiving an approval does not guarantee you will be adopting the dog you applied for. Once you move to the meet and greet process, you will be contacted by the foster family to further discuss the dog, and answer questions you may have, and if applicable, a meet and greet will be set up at our adoption center. Meet and greets are only set up with approved applicants, and we require all members in the household to be present, as well as any current dogs in the home. Meet and greets take place at our adoption center located in Milwaukee. If you are proceeding with adopting a Lucky Mutt, we will require the dog to have a Martingale collar at the time of adoption, to ensure the dogs safety during the transition to a new home.

Current Adoption Fees Are:
$400+tax for puppies to 3 years old
$350+tax for ages 4-7
$250+tax for ages 8 and up
Bonded pairs vary

The adoption fee covers spay/neuter, up to date age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, general deworming, heartworm test, (if over 6 months) and a certified veterinary inspection. Please be aware, listed dog breeds are based on information provided and cannot be guaranteed. Submitting an application for a particular dog does not guarantee that you will be the applicant chosen, we receive several applications for each dog. Our adopters are picked based on the needs of the dog, and the home we feel with best fit based on your responses to our application, vet information and landlord requirements. Approved applicants not chosen for the dog you applied for, will be in active status for a period of six months. We encourage you to watch Petfinder, Facebook and our website for upcoming dogs. Should you see a dog that interests you, please send us a Facebook message or an email with your approval number. Please be patient with us, as Lucky Mutts Rescue is run strictly by volunteers and many of us work full time jobs, have families and also foster dogs. Thank you for considering Lucky Mutts Rescue for your next furry family member!
