Phoebe's Story

Name: Phoebe
Age: Approximately 2 years (Estimated DOB: July 1, 2024)
Breed: Alaskan Husky Mix
Weight: 22lbs
Fostered in: Brownsville, ON

Meet Phoebe!

Phoebe is a beautiful girl with a gentle soul and a heart that is learning what it means to feel safe and loved. Phoebes journey began in Kashechewan First Nation, where families were forced to evacuate due to unsafe water conditions. During this difficult time, many beloved pets were left behind. Phoebe was later found trying to survive on her own, taking shelter beneath a vacant home and doing her best to make it through each day.

Today, Phoebe is finally safe in foster care and discovering that people can be kind, patient, and loving. She is a sensitive girl who is slowly learning the comforts of home, and every day she continues to show more of her sweet personality.

Good With:

Dogs: Yes! Phoebe finds confidence and comfort with other dogs and would do best in a home with a friendly, patient canine companion who can help her continue building trust.

Cats: No. Phoebe has shown a strong interest in chasing cats and would not be recommended for a home with feline companions.

Children: Older, respectful children who understand that Phoebe needs time and space to adjust would be best. She is still learning that new people and experiences are safe, so slow introductions are important.

Men & Women: Yes, with patience and gentle introductions.

Training & Home Life:

Phoebe is adjusting to life as a cherished family member and learning the routines of living indoors. She is curious about her surroundings and may be unsure of new sounds or experiences, but she continues to make progress every day.

She enjoys being outside, exploring her environment, and walks beautifully on leash. She is still learning appropriate household manners and, like many dogs adjusting to a new life, enjoys exploring with her mouth—so continued guidance and appropriate chew toys will help her succeed.

Phoebe is also learning that her crate can be a safe and comfortable place. She does best when given patience, reassurance, and the ability to adjust at her own pace.

Her ideal home will provide:

- Patience and understanding as she adjusts
- Continued positive reinforcement training
- A safe, structured environment
- A securely fenced yard for safe exploring
- Someone willing to celebrate the small victories along the way

Most of all, Phoebe needs someone who will show her that she is finally safe and loved.

Why You'll Love Phoebe:

Phoebe is a quiet, resilient girl whose personality is just beginning to shine. She has already shown how much she wants to trust and connect with people when given the time and space to do so.

Watching Phoebe learn to relax, explore, and enjoy life's simple comforts is incredibly special. She doesn't ask for much—just patience, kindness, and a family willing to believe in her. In return, you'll gain a loyal companion whose love will be worth every step of the journey.
