Phineas's Story

Now that his foster family has spent some time getting to know Phineas, here is what they have to say about him! “He is such a sweet and happy little boy! Full of energy and so affectionate. He hasn't met a stranger and is usually the first to greet you at the door, trying desperately to jump up for some attention. When he's in your arms, he is squirmy with excitement and showers you in kisses. He can be a little guarded when meeting new dogs (we assume he watched his brother get attacked, so we can't blame him), but after a little bit of barking, he gets over it. Once he feels comfortable with the dog, it's game over. He loves to play and snuggle with them, and he'd love a canine companion to continue that with in his forever home. He is also a big fan of cuddling with his people and has puppy-eyed his way into sleeping in bed at night. Phineas hasn't had a single accident in the house and will even go to the back door to let us know he needs to go potty. He also caught on to kennel training very easily, but we certainly get an earful each time we return home. True to his breed, he has found his voice, so he wouldn't be suited for apartment living. Phineas has been such an easy addition to foster and always makes us smile with his happy-go-lucky attitude. He is such a wonderful little puppy who will make his forever family very lucky!” Phineas is a 5 month old Chihuahua mix who weighs 8.05 lbs. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs.
