Petunia's Story

Meet Petunia!

This sweet red and white dachshund is looking for her forever couch — and maybe someone who always has snacks in their pocket. She's all of 12#s and about three years old. Petunia comes to NTASR after being surrendered to a local shelter.
Petunia is a sensitive soul who might take a little while to find her confidence, but once she feels safe with you, she's pure velvet — burrowing into blankets, pressing against your side, howling for treats and soaking up every ounce of affection you'll give her. Cuddles aren't just her love language, they're her whole personality.

The big wide world is still a little intimidating for this girl, but she's working on it! Walks are a work in progress — she's learning that the outside isn't so scary, especially with the right human by her side and a little encouragement along the way.

Speaking of encouragement... Petunia is wildly food motivated, which means she's a dream to work with. Training? Absolutely possible. Bribery? Enthusiastically accepted.

Petunia would thrive in a calm, patient home where she can take things at her own pace. She'll reward your gentleness tenfold in snuggles and soulful brown eyes.

Gets along with others but would really prefer all the attention. She would do best in a home without kids.
