Petey's Story

Meet Petey!

Petey is a 1‑year‑old, neutered Border Collie mix weighing about 30 pounds. He is medium energy level when playing outside but will settle when in the house. From the moment you meet him, it’s clear that Petey has a sweet, affectionate personality and truly enjoys being around people.

After his first few days in foster, we have discovered that Petey is eager to please and responds very well to verbal praise & gentle corrections. He’s a quick learner and has already mastered several commands, including sit, down, stay, back up, and out. He has excellent manners.

He pulls some when walking on leash, but is still easily manageable due to his small size. His foster mom is working on additional leash training. He has great recall when in a fenced backyard. He appears to have had some prior crate training. Petey has been crated overnight and for short periods during the day and didnt seem to mind it at all. He’s also been left out uncrated for brief periods with no potty accidents or behavioral issues.

Socially, Petey has done well with the two senior female dogs in his foster home. While he tested their boundaries at first (as many young dogs do), he quickly respected their corrections and has settled in nicely. There have been no food aggression issues. He takes treats gently. He played very nicely with his foster mom's grandson.

Please fill out an Adoption Application if you are interested in adopting Petey.
www.clancysdream.org

Clancy's Dream Inc.'s Adoption Policy
When you adopt any companion animal, especially a rescue, it is a commitment that will affect your lifestyle for many years to come. Do you have the time, energy and resources necessary to devote to a new member of the family? With good care, most Border Collies will live 10 to 17 years. It is critical that you consider what is likely to be happening in your own life — before you adopt a pet. If you can provide a healthy, safe and loving home and would like to adopt a Clancy’s Dream rescued Border Collie the next step is to read our Adoption Process Quick Facts and then complete the Adoption Application. Please note that the application is not an agreement to adopt a pet. Improper placement can end tragically — usually for the dog. This comprehensive application helps us to place the right dog with the right family. An adoption interview will be scheduled either by phone or in person upon review of the application. The level of experience required, need for a fence, adequate exercise space, hours the animal may be left alone, young children and other pets in the home, etc will be discussed in the adoption interview and will be determined according to the need of each dog.
