Meet Peter Pan

We are looking for a foster for this dog who is being returned. Please let me know if you can help!!

Peter Pan is a 4-yr-old border collie/rat terrier mix (approx. 50lbs) who has a lot of energy and a LOT of love. Pete loves walking and running (recently leash trained, it's a good idea to have lots of treats on hand for any walk/run to help him learn to focus on you!), but more than anything in the world, he loves a good tennis ball. Fetch is his favorite thing to do and he's also been known to self-entertain by kicking his ball with his left paw and chasing it down afterward. Pete has a good appetite and is often entertained by snuffling out his breakfast or dinner in a wrapped up towel or old cardboard box - he loves chewing on toys (and nothing else! He's a good boy who only chews through toys/items offered to him, not the couch, shoes, etc.) Pete also loves a good snuggle on the couch or in bed. Pete enjoys "taking a rest" to calm his busy mind - he's crate trained for sleeping at night and while the humans are gone. He's very smart - learning lots of tricks! - and definitely needs exercise for his body and his brain. He responds best to positive reinforcement and lots of love. Pete has a border collie instinct to herd - and thus would be best in a home without cat(s) who might run, where he might chase/herd them into corners. (That said, he's happy to chase the small critters in your hard - squirrel, bunnies, etc. if you need it!). He lived with a cat who did not run and they got along fine. Pete currently lives in a home with another dog but has some resource guarding around food and high value toys/treats (eg, antlers, bones) so needs to be fed separately if your home has another dog. He loves being outdoors and does well on car rides. Pete will be great for anyone with a lot of love to share with him!
