Pepper's Story

Pepper is an approximate 1.5-year-old, 50 lb., female, Wire-haired Pointing Griffon mix. She recently came from Oklahoma after having weened her litter of puppies. Pepper is a bit shy in new situations, but she does warm up quickly. She has lived with other dogs her whole life and is currently being fostered with two other dogs about her same size. She is doing well with them but has shown some resource guarding at times with her food and toys. This will need to be considered and worked on if she is adopted into a home with another dog. When playing with other dogs, she can be a bit rough and push a little too hard so offering a time out or redirecting her during play may be needed. Overall, Pepper is doing great in her foster home! She hasn't been destructive and seems to understand house manners. She has taken very well to being kenneled at night. Pepper is a sweet, cuddly girl and loves attention. If she feels neglected, she has a tendency to ask for attention by nipping at the person to get pets. That behavior is being worked on in her foster home. Pepper loves being outside in the fenced yard chasing squirrels and playing with her foster dog siblings. She visited a farmer's market recently and did very well meeting new people but was a bit apprehensive meeting more exuberant dogs. Pepper does well walking on a leash and has great recall. She has lived with kids in Oklahoma and did well meeting kids at the farmer's market.

If you are interested in meeting Pepper, please complete an online application at https://hopeanimalrescueofiowa.duplie.com/forms/196/dog-application

Adoption fee is $250 which includes spay/neuter, microchip, and age appropriate vaccines.
