Peppa's Story

As seen on Instagram’s The Dogist!

Do you have a lap? Here’s your guy! Long legged 5 year old Peppa is a healthy and happy 10 pound dog. Peppa is being listed as a Maltese and Yorkshire Terrier mix, but we truthfully have no idea what breed(s) Peppa actually is, though this guess seems accurate as his face is Maltese while his body seems terrier! He is 100% adorable.

Peppa is a friendly, happy, loving dog, who loves every person he meets and eagerly jumps up at their knees for attention and affection. Peppa is quiet at home and is really easy-going and a pleasure to live with. He is definitely a lap dog. He is a good eater, is good being isolated into his own space at night, and good when left home alone - no separation anxiety. He has limited interest in toys, and does like a good game of having his kibble thrown around the kitchen, piece by piece, and chasing after and eating it, which is his beloved and exciting daily lunch time activity!

Manhattan-based Peppa is both good and challenging in an urban environment. He LOVES his leashed walks, can and does hike for miles at a time, and the sounds and busy nature of the city streets do not bother him a bit, nor does activity in the public hallways outside his apartment, which is just wonderful. Peppa is, however, very leash reactive when seeing other dogs. Peppa is currently fostered with another related dog, Salt, and they're mostly walked together, so individualized training cannot be as focused as possible. When Peppa is walked alone, more attention is able to be made in addressing his reactivity, and we do see a positive outcome with that, and do think his habits are surmountable with plenty of reinforcement. A suburban home with a fenced-in backyard is the dream setting we are seeking for our Peppa. An urban home will only be considered if the adopter has strong experience in working with training issues such as Peppa's.

Peppa is really so cute and appealing, and a wonderful guy, and much beloved in his foster home.
