Meet Penny Lane - Located in NC - Beautiful & Friendly

Meet Beautiful Penny Lane! Penny is in search of a new home as an only dog. She is a beautiful 3 year old peaches and cream girl with lovely eyes and long eyelashes. She is sweet, friendly, funny, affectionate and wicked smart. She loves car rides, walks with lots of sniffs and playing “squeak” ball. Penny is well-mannered and responds to basic commands. She likes other dogs but would prefer to be the only dog at home because she’d rather not share resources. She likes children, but as young noisy children sometimes make her nervous, she would do best with older kids. Penny lives with a cat, but the cat is not really interested in interacting with her. She is curious, but does not harm the cat.

Penny was born on 10/25/2020. She is a delightful girl who needs to be an only dog. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a loyal and loving companion who would be thrilled to share walks and car rides. She would do best in a home with older children or adults only and with someone who understands the characteristics of the breed. Penny’s current owners will transport her (if the distance is feasible) to an approved adopter.

We recommend obedience training for all newly adopted pyrs, to help you create a special bond with you and your new friend, and so you have a well behaved canine. Great Pyrenees are willing to learn, but are not as eager to comply with commands as much as other breeds. They are bred to be independent thinkers. Applicants must be over 25, own their own home and all children living in the household must be over 10 years old. Your resident pets must be up to date on vaccines, sterilized, you must have a good history of vet care for them, and you must have used heartworm preventative year round for your dog(s) , and must be able to provide proof if required.

Penny will be placed as an inside pet with outside privileges. You MUST have a securely 4'+ fenced yard accessible from your home. Invisible fencing does not work with this breed and they will take the shock for the freedom. Great Pyrenees are bred to roam and will create their own territory if not secured, which can led to them being lost, hit by vehicles or shot by people who see them as a threat. The breed is not a good off leash dog, and cannot be trusted to not run away. A Great Pyrenees off leash is a " DisAPyr."
