Penny's Story

Penny is a 6 year old 90 pound Great Dane mix. She is short in stature but big in personality! She loves to play with dogs, but is a lady who knows her place at the top of the hierarchy and her worth! She only wants to play with dogs that will let her be the queen of the castle. Any challengers will need to be relocated elsewhere by the palace guards. Also, no cats allowed around this queen!

She is extremely food and treat motivated and loves to showcase her skills. She is also crate trained and house trained and knows how to relax when needed. She is well behaved in her foster home and very well adjusted to life in a home environment.

Penny has been waiting a very long time to finally find her forever family and we are hoping that day comes soon. Her foster parents busted her out of the kennel and have been taking care of her so well and helping her blossom into the dog that she is today. Due to her rough start in life, penny has always started out wary of strangers. Because of that, we have limited her adoption to local areas where people are able to come and meet her or vice versa. The love and care that her fosters have shown her over the years has helped her lower her guard a little and be more accepting of new people. She still isn't a dog that can host balls, galas or house parties, but she can now meet guests outside the home and will tentatively welcome them inside as long as they are patient with her. Quieter, low traffic homes are still preferred.

She has the biggest heart I have ever seen in a dog. When she loves someone, she loves them wholly, completely, with everything that she is. She is loyal to a fault and there is nothing in the world that she wants more than to finally love and be loved in return.

She has been in rescue with us for four years now. FOUR. YEARS. That is a very long time for a dog to be without a permanent family to love and care for them, but we're not going to give up trying to find it for her! Someone out there surely needs her as much as she needs them. Someone out there will understand and accept all of her quirks and meet her where she's at to provide her the life that she deserves at long last.

If you feel like Penny is the dog you've been looking for, she has been looking for you for a very long time. Please submit an application at https://bigfluffydogs.com/dog-adoption/ and email summer@bigfluffydogs.com or katrina@bigfluffydogs.com for more info.

Our main website, www.bigfluffydogs.com has more information about us and the rescue process.

-

NOTE TO EMAILERS FROM PETFINDER: WE DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAIL INQUIRIES WITHOUT AN APPLICATION. WE REGRET WE CANNOT RESPOND TO EVERY EMAIL, BUT UNLESS YOU FILL OUT AN APPLICATION, WE DO NOT KNOW YOU EXIST.

All known information about an individual dog is provided in its listing. We do our best to provide accurate information, but adopters should understand that each home is different and the dog may behave differently in a new home. Dogs are creatures of their environment and you help make the dog what it will be.
