Penny aka Pink's Story
Penny is a 12-month-old beagle hound mix with an incredibly outgoing, radiant, sociable personality. She is the only female among her 11 siblings and has a wonderful character: sweet, gentle, playful, and eager to please. Penny is motivated by food, toys, and praise, making her a joy to train.

Fun and happy-go-lucky, she loves everyone she meets. Penny is friendly, curious, and free-spirited. She has interacted with nearly 500 people and played with over 200 dogs thus far. Penny has been raised around various animals—including cats, dogs of all ages and sizes, rabbits, birds, turtles, goats, chickens, and even a somewhat jerk rooster—and she treats them all with respect.

Having been around children as young as 2, Penny adapts well to those situations. She rides comfortably in the car and enjoys being held, petted, and loved—her snuggles are the best! Penny walks well on a leash and is both potty-trained and crate-trained. She is actively learning basic obedience commands and is a pleasure to train. Penny is smart.

Despite being smaller than most in her litter, Penny is spirited and can hold her own. She is adventurous, enjoying trail walks and playing in the water. Penny is gentle for her size and takes treats nicely. I would describe her as having a medium but active energy level.

Penny is an easygoing puppy who would thrive in a home with other pets. A fenced yard and an active, outgoing household would be ideal for her. Raised with 9 brothers, Penny is a strong-willed pup who doesn't take nonsense. She stands her ground with confidence. Her personality is both soft and strong, and as she grows, it evolves beautifully, making her a sweet, snuggly joy that brings a smile to your heart. It's a precious, gentle energy that truly sets her apart.

**AdoptAHRescue.org – Adoption Information**

**Friendly With:**

Children • Cats • Rabbits • Dogs • Small-breed dogs • Senior pets
---
**What’s Included with Every Adoption**

• Spay/Neuter procedure
• Rabies vaccination (1- or 3-year option)
• Comprehensive core vaccinations, including Leptospirosis, Coronavirus & Lyme (1- or 3-year options)
• Negative heartworm test (if of age)
• Monthly heartworm, flea, and tick prevention
• Negative Lyme disease test
• Deworming and negative fecal test
• All required testing completed within the last 6–12 months
• All age-appropriate medical needs addressed (blood work, dental checks, testing, medications)
• Lifetime microchip registration with free unlimited updates
• Recommendation for a high-quality, protein-rich diet
• Full veterinary records
• Brand-new collar, leash, and harness
---
**Adoption Processing**

**Please allow up to three weeks** for application review, meet-and-greets, and completion of the adoption process.

**About Our Program**

• We are a foster-based rescue with access to a private location called **The Sanctuary**, where all dogs begin their journey before placement into foster homes.
• Foster homes are located throughout the state—**be prepared to travel** for meet-and-greets.

**Adoption Standards**

To ensure the safety of our dogs, foster families, and adopters, we require:

• A completed adoption application
• A basic background check for all adults in the home
• A photo ID and proof of address
• At least **one meet-and-greet** with all household members (children and pets included)
• A **home check**, which may take place on the same day as the adoption
• Additional meet-and-greets available upon request

**Operation & Processing Fee**

A non-refundable service fee (separate from the adoption fee) is due when scheduling meet-and-greets.
This covers:

• Background checks
• Travel costs

**Refunds are available only if cancellation occurs within 72 hours.**

**Matching Process**

• We encourage meeting multiple dogs that fit your home and lifestyle.
• Your current pets have the final say—compatibility is essential.
• The safety of your children and resident pets is always our top priority.
• Adoption fees are **not negotiable** and are listed on each pet’s profile.
• Adoption fees help cover approximately **¼ of the cost** of running the rescue.
---
**For Former AHRS Adopters**

No formal adoption fee is required—
**A donation of your choice is appreciated.**
---
**Training Commitment**

Training is a lifelong process.
