*PENDING ADOPTION 9/7/26*<br/><br/>James is a healthy, beautiful, black purebred Portuguese Water Dog pup.<br/><br/>He's a bouncy, happy guy currently doing lots of normal puppy things! <br/><br/>James is crate-trained and has had no crate accidents, but is still working on house training which is very normal at this age. He's learned very quickly how to sit, come, and avoid accidentally nipping kids in his foster home. He also walks on a light leash without any signs of fear.<br/><br/>He also gets along with all male and female dogs so far, but we do not know how he would do with cats.<br/><br/>We estimate he is likely to grow to 35-45 lbs as an adult.<br/><br/>He is an "older puppy" from the Last Litter breeder release program, and has no known health or behavior issues. <br/><br/>Because he is too young to be neutered, he will be adopted with our spay/neuter contract partner SpaySecure, which communicates with adopters directly to ensure their surgeries are completed between 6-12 months. We cover the contractual fees for SpaySecure and are happy to support finding affordable spay/neuter options in your area. (We are no longer able to fully reimburse for spay/neuter vet fees, as they have skyrocketed to $800 in our AZ area this year. However we will do our best to find options, as many cities have low-cost programs under $150.)<br/><br/>---<br/><br/>All of our dogs at Blue Star Pups are <br/>up-to-date on vaccines, and neutered/spayed or for young puppies adopted out with an enforceable spay/neuter contract.<br/><br/>2026 purebred puppy adoption fees are $750* and include 2 rounds of deworming, 1st and 2nd puppy shots, registered microchip, and the remaining will go to cover Mom's and Dad's spay and neuter fees as part of The Last Litter initiative.<br/><br/>James will be contractually required to be neutered by 3-6 months of age through SpaySecure, and we will assist in finding the lowest cost options!<br/><br/>*Please note, we generally follow annual adoption fees of Big Dog Ranch: https://www.bdrr.org/adopt
