Peeta bonded w/ Jayne's Story

Meet Peeta!
Located in Hartselle, AL

Peeta is bonded with Jayne and they are looking for a forever home together.
Peeta is a 6-year-old Great Dane with a heart as big as he is. If you ask him where his favorite place is, the answer is simple—right beside his person. Whether he's leaning against your legs, soaking up pets, or asking for another cuddle, Peeta is happiest when he's close to the people he loves.

This handsome boy is incredibly intelligent and loves to learn. He's highly food motivated, enjoys training, and has mastered his basic commands. He's also mastered a few things he probably shouldn't have... like opening the trash can and checking the counters for snacks! Keeping tempting treats out of reach is a must with this clever guy.

Peeta enjoys car rides, loves playing with toys, and has a charming habit of "talking" back when you speak to him. He's affectionate, social, and wins over most people with his gentle personality and signature Great Dane lean.

While Peeta adores women, he can take a little longer to warm up to men and benefits from calm, slow introductions. Because of a negative experience with a child when he was younger, he is happiest in a home with adults or older, respectful children who understand his boundaries.

Peeta does not do well with cats or small animals due to his prey drive. He has also shown some resource guarding around food and toys, so he is looking for an experienced adopter who is comfortable managing these behaviors and continuing his training.

He is crate trained, muzzle trained, and walks very nicely using a Halti while continuing to improve his leash skills. Like many deeply devoted dogs, Peeta also experiences some separation anxiety, but he settles well in his crate or loose in a room when given time and consistency.

Now thriving in his foster home, Peeta has blossomed into the affectionate, loyal companion everyone knew he could be. Alongside his best friend Jayne, he's ready to find a family who will love them both for the rest of their lives.

If you're looking for a gentle giant who will never let you feel alone, Peeta is waiting to meet you.

All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are now in one place: https://linktr.ee/Srgdrr

If donating, please note who or what your donation is for.

Team Rocky Enterprises, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
How Our Adoption Process Works Team Rocky Enterprises DBA Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR) follows a thoughtful adoption process designed to ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and their future families. Our available dogs are posted on our website, Facebook page, and multiple adoption platforms, including Petfinder. Once you find a dog you’re interested in, the process includes: 1. Adoption Application – This helps us learn about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a dog so we can make the best match. 2. Veterinary Reference Check – We verify that current or past pets have received appropriate veterinary care. First-time pet owners are welcome and encouraged to apply. 3. Phone Interview – This is a chance for us to talk with you about the dog you’re interested in, including personality, needs, medical history, and any quirks. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about the dog and our rescue. 4. Home Check – We confirm that your home environment is safe and appropriate for the dog, whether that includes a fenced yard or a leash-walking setup. This is not a housekeeping inspection—just a safety check. Once all steps are completed and approved, you’ll sign an adoption contract and submit an adoption donation. From there, your new forever friend will be ready to head home! Why This Process Matters Our goal is to match each dog with a home that best meets their needs. Some dogs thrive with experienced owners, while others do best with someone who is home most of the day or understands specific behavioral or medical needs. Taking the time to get this right helps ensure lifelong, successful adoptions. Our Lifetime Commitment If at any point you are unable to keep your adopted dog, you must contact us. We will always take our dogs back. We never want them to end up in unsafe situations or shelters again. Our responsibility to each dog lasts for their lifetime. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering adoption with SRGDRR.
