Pearl's Story
Hi, I'm Pearl and I'm ready to find my forever home.

Dog's Name: Pearl
Location: Oak Park, IL
Date of Birth: 03/19/2019
Gender: Female
Breed: Mastiff
Color: Brindle
Dog's Weight: 127

Gets along with:

Dogs?: All dogs. She gets excited to see other dogs and occasionally scares dogs smaller than her.
Cats?: Probably, with a slow introduction. Pearl has met a neighbor's cat through the fence. At first, she showed excitement and curiosity, but with repeated exposures, she became noticeably calmer and more neutral in her response.
Kids?: All Kids

Training:

Leash trained: Walks loose on leash
Crate/Kennel: Goes into crate/kennel on command
Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn't have indoor accidents
Car: Rides Well in car

Meet Pearl

Pearl is the gentlest soul you will ever meet. She loves everyone and everything, and her greatest joy in life is simply being close to her people and soaking up pets and attention. She has a special fondness for children and will happily lead you over to say hello on walks. She's calm, quiet, and easygoing, with the sweetest presence that makes her a wonderful companion in any setting.

At home, Pearl is happiest doing simple, peaceful things—watching the world go by from a window, lounging on the porch, or curling up in a cozy bed (especially if it's in the same room as you). She does have a fun, spunky side that comes out around mealtimes, when she'll do the cutest little hops and soft whines to let you know she's ready for breakfast or dinner. While she enjoys occasional short bursts of playfulness, she's mostly a relaxed girl who enjoys the slower pace of life.

Pearl is also wonderfully adaptable and enjoys going along for errands and outings—car rides, local shops, brunch, visits with friends, or quiet strolls. She's easy to bring places and tends to be admired by everyone she meets, so the biggest “challenge” with Pearl is often how many people want to stop and pet her. She's currently building up her strength and stamina, so she'll need a family that's mindful of giving her rest breaks and not overdoing long or strenuous activities.

Pearl would be a great fit for a wide range of homes, including first-time large breed adopters. She does not need a highly active lifestyle—in fact, she is not suited for long hikes or running partners. Instead, she thrives with someone who enjoys a peaceful, companionable dog who is content to share slow weekends, quiet evenings, and gentle daily routines. A home committed to supporting her senior needs—comfort, joint care, nutrition, and a little extra TLC—will be very important for her wellbeing.

In return, Pearl offers something truly special: a steady, loving presence who just wants to be near you, brighten your days, and make every ordinary moment feel a little softer and sweeter.

Until the profile is removed from the public's view, this dog is considered available for adoption.
