Peanut's Story

Hi... I am Peanut, I am around 5 years old, a 41 lb Jack Russell/Beagle mix. I will do best as the only dog in the household. I just don't always know how to trust, after everything I've been through. I really want a calm, loving place where I can feel secure, and spend the rest of my life being the loyal, loving companion I was always meant to be. ๐Ÿก๐ŸคIf you open your heart to me, you're not just adopting a dog--you're giving a survivor the happy ending she has been waiting for. And I promise, I'll fill your life with more love than you ever imagined. ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿพ A couple of years ago, I was found in a sugarcane field, starving, covered in fleas and mange, and just trying to survive by drinking from a muddy ditch. No one knows exactly what I went through before that, but we do know it left me a little scared of the world--especially other dogs. ๐Ÿ’•I was so sick with heartworms that I almost didn't make it, and I still carry tiny pellets in my chest from being shot... so loud noises like thunder and fireworks can be really scary for me. ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ๐ŸถThe kind humans who rescued me refused to give up, and because of them, I am now healthy, heartworm-free, fixed, chipped, and finally know what it feels like to be loved. I am ready to give love back, I am incredibly sweet, such a gentle soul with the biggest heart. I adore people, do wonderful with kids, and I am happiest when I am close to my humans--whether that's soaking up attention or just quietly being near you. ๐Ÿฅฐ Come meet me and adopt me today. You can also call the shelter at 479-394-5682 to find out more about me.
****************
All animals at HSO are current on their vaccinations and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
