He had lived with an elderly couple so he will do best if the family is around most of the day. He is fine with other dogs and basically ignores them. His big brown eyes will steal your heart for he is a very sweet happy-go-lucky boy that will follow your every move. He will wait to be invited onto the furniture but when next to you he will paw at you to get petted. His little legs make it tough to maneuver a lot of stairs, but he does fine with doggie steps or a few steps on the deck. Patches loves to be outside when it is nice out, so I am requiring a fenced yard. He is extremely smart and figured out the doggie door the first day. Car rides are a new venture for Patches, and he pants a bit when in the car and is learning that he cannot move around and is not allowed on the lap. I have crated him in the car, and he hates it so guessing he has never encountered a crate prior. When at home he has the run of the house and does not get into anything. He does not play with toys but will give chase to an empty paper towel roll or drag throw pillows around. He gets silly at the game of your hand under a blanket and pretending to grab his toes. Patches loves to sit and gaze out the window. He will periodically bark at people passing by. We are working on loosing a few pounds. He arrived weighing 20 pounds and is down to 18 but should lose a few more.
