Patch Adams's Story

Patch had a rough start to rescue life. He came to us well behaved and not underfed: about the only two good things he had going for him. His skin had a severe yeast and bacteria infection, making his whole body an itchy, flaky, red uncomfortable mess. To make matters worse, he had a bad reaction to the first round of meds and his lowered immune system allowed bronchitis to settle in.

The good news? He was brought in to the vet ASAP, and on the new cycle of meds his cough cleared up, and his skin began healing soon after.

None of these things had gotten this guy down. Now that he has the energy, he enjoys chasing the squirrels in the backyard and gathering all the dog toys in a happy little pile.

He pulls a bit on walks and needs coaxing to walk into wet grass to do his business. He’ll need careful diet and monitoring, and a simple pill regimen to keep his allergies in check.

He does, however, keeps chewing to dog toys and treats. No ruined shoes or kiddo toys at all. He has been given free rein of the house while we’re gone and we’ve had no issues. He is smart and responsive to corrective verbal commands. Velcro dog, will follow you to every room. Snuggles so hard he might squeeze you out of your bed.

This guy will fit in to nearly any home environment that can give him the patience and attention that he needs to stay happy and healthy.
