Panhandle's Story

PJust a little guy with a big underbite.
Panhandle and his lip are quite the show. That lip won’t stay unstuck and we are here for all the adorable action. Panhandle has been waiting for so long but he can’t seem to kick the shelter ick. He’s eating thankfully but still not healthy enough for surgery. We would love to see him leave with a rescue partner group. Interested people can apply to foster him and adopt once he is all fixed up. That’s a win-win in our book.

Chicago Animal Care and Control is located at 2741 S. Western Ave., Chicago, IL, and is open from 12pm to 7pm daily. Walk-in visitors are welcome and helped on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are planning to adopt the day you visit, please plan to arrive before 5:30pm. Visitors arriving after 5:30pm will still be able to view animals in Pavilions A-B-C until 7pm.

All dogs will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated before adoption.

All household members should be present to meet dogs (especially those under 18 and any decision-makers).

We recommend, and can arrange, dog-to-dog meet and greets for your current dog(s) to meet a potential dog sibling at the shelter. You will need to show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for your dog(s). Slow, cautious, and appropriate introductions are recommended after you allow time for decompression for the shelter dog.

If you have any questions, please email caccpetfinder@gmail.com
