PANDA's Story

Meet PANDA!

Panda is approximately 10.4 lbs and estimated to be about 2 years old. He's a perfect size to fit in a bag and is very portable for travel. He's clearly a chihuahua mix but we don't know for sure with what, perhaps rat terrier. We think he is the cutest little guy. He has the cutest little alert eyes and we love his "smile."

Panda is currently being fostered in a home with several dogs of varying sizes and ages including a large pitty mix and he is great with them all. Panda's original home had multiple dogs (20+!) and he was equally good with all them. Because of his exposure to so many dogs, he is well-socialized and takes social cues very well!

He has been great with every human he's met so far. He is on the initially shyer side. He is an observer at first until he gets to know you. He has never been aggressive whatsoever! Even though he is initially shy, he will follow you around and caught on to when his foster called his name (don't worry, you can still change it!). He enjoys being pet! He is a little wary at first with new people but we can tell he definitely enjoys it. He's the kind of dog that once he gets to know you, he'll be your BFF but it may take a little bit of time.

House training wise, he's doing very well! He'll be perfect in no time.

While we have not had the opportunity to observe any interaction with young children, based on his gentle demeanor we think he would be fine with them.

Panda has not been observed to be an excessive barker in our care. He would be good in an apartment!

He LOVES his food and has been known to lick an "abandoned" bowl of other dogs clean at times, although he has no resource guarding behaviors whatsoever! This food motivation is excellent for training.

He does not have any separation anxiety that we've seen and can be left alone without issue. Right now he isn't crated but he is kept in a gated area when left alone. He hasn't destroyed anything.

He is neutered, vaccinated, fecal negative, heartworm negative and is ready to find his forever home!

**PLEASE NOTE: Panda is currently in Puerto Rico and will fly to his forever home once adopted! Please note that we can easily ship in cabin with a person to many airports including JFK, LGA, EWR, BOS, PHL, BWI, BDL, DCA, IAD, TPA, MCO, ORD and many more! The process is incredibly easy to get your dog over from Puerto Rico and we have done it thousands (not an exaggeration) of times! Any questions about whether we can ship to, please ask!***

Please feel free to email us with any questions about him! We are a small all-volunteer rescue and we see every email that comes through, so your inquiry will not get lost! See below for application info.

APPLY TO ADOPT HERE:
https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FDZ/Dog

For more information on our organization, please visit: https://www.flydogzpr.org/

Instagram: @flydogz_pr AND @flydogzpr_adopt

Any questions, please do not hesitate to email: flydogzpradoptions@gmail.com
________________________________________________________________________________
We strive for our dogs to be adopted into the right home. The best fit for the dog is our priority.

Please make sure you are ready to properly exercise and give a dog all it needs for fulfillment. Your ongoing time and day-to-day commitment are the most important things in caring for a dog.

In addition, we cannot guarantee breed of any dog, exact age or expected adult size of a puppy. Please note that even house-trained dogs will need help transitioning to an adopter's home and schedule. Thank you for understanding.

FlyDogzPR's Adoption Policy
FlyDogzPR upholds a thorough adoption process. The steps are as follows: 1) The potential adopter fills out a detailed adoption application for a specific animal. 2) FlyDogzPR reviews the application and deems the application suitable for the animal. 3) If deemed a suitable home, FlyDogz contacts the potential adopter to schedule a virtual interview and home check during which time the potential adopter can ask questions about the animal and FlyDogz can further determine if the home is a good fit. 4) If FlyDogz wishes to proceed, references are contacted and the adopter’s veterinarian is called for past pet records and a reference. 5) If the potential adopter is cleared to adopt, a meet and greet with the animal (either in person or virtual) can be scheduled and if the adopter confirms he/she wishes to proceed and adopt the animal, then arrangements are made for contract to be signed, payment made, and animal to be given to the adopter.
