Our Mission

FlyDogzPR is dedicated to reducing the stray animal population in Puerto Rico via several initiatives: rescue, transport and education. FlyDogzPR rescues neglected and abandoned dogs in Puerto Rico and finds them loving homes in the mainland U.S. The organization also coordinates and funds lifesaving transport for rescued pets (in cabin with flight volunteers for small dogs and via cargo for large dogs). FlyDogzPR educates the public through various platforms about the stray animal crisis and ways to help, promotes the “adopt don’t shop” motto, emphasizing the importance of spaying/neutering pets, and responsible pet ownership.

Adoption Policy

FlyDogzPR upholds a thorough adoption process. The steps are as follows: 1) The potential adopter fills out a detailed adoption application for a specific animal. 2) FlyDogzPR reviews the application and deems the application suitable for the animal. 3) If deemed a suitable home, FlyDogz contacts the potential adopter to schedule a virtual interview and home check during which time the potential adopter can ask questions about the animal and FlyDogz can further determine if the home is a good fit. 4) If FlyDogz wishes to proceed, references are contacted and the adopter’s veterinarian is called for past pet records and a reference. 5) If the potential adopter is cleared to adopt, a meet and greet with the animal (either in person or virtual) can be scheduled and if the adopter confirms he/she wishes to proceed and adopt the animal, then arrangements are made for contract to be signed, payment made, and animal to be given to the adopter.
