Paloma's Story
Meet Paloma!

Paloma is a captivating Kuvasz who spent her life roaming on a farm. She came to us when her guardian's lifestyle changed and from the moment she arrived, she's been requesting belly rubs, charming everyone in sight, and making herself completely at home. Paloma is deeply, enthusiastically human-oriented: she'll nuzzle into your hands, follow you around, and somehow convince you that she belongs in your lap... even though she definitely doesn't fit at 86 pounds! She is a lot of dog with a charming, curly coat and a lot of love to give.

At home, Paloma is a remarkably easy keeper. Low-key, charming and content, she's happy to lounge around the house and head outside periodically to wander the yard, investigate the perimeter, and remind any squirrels who's in charge. She settles easily, and is generally calm and relaxed indoors, a refreshingly chill housemate for such a big, gorgeous dog. She does love a good morning zoomie session and carrying enormous sticks around the yard like prized treasure. Paloma also loves water and will happily splash through a stream without a second thought!

As a livestock guardian breed, Paloma has a strong prey drive and will do best in a home without cats or small animals and a securely fenced yard is a must for this girl who loves to wander and patrol. If you're looking for a big love to light up your life, Paloma could be your new best friend!

Easy keeper: calm, content, and low-energy indoors
Strong prey drive: no small critters for this cutie!
Securely fenced yard a must: true to her guardian roots
An absolute love bug who lives for her people: a gentle giant!

Dogs: Paloma is social with other dogs. If you have a dog at home we are happy to facilitate a meet to ensure a good match before heading home!
Cats: Paloma is seeking a home without cats or small animals.
Children: Due to her size and strength, Paloma may thrive in a home with older children, teenagers and adults.

Ready to adopt your new best friend?
Submit an adoption application today! You'll receive an email with all the next steps. At HSCC, dog adoptions are by appointment, and we'll schedule your counseling session promptly to help you find the pawfect canine companion!

*As a NorthCountry Star, Paloma's care at HSCC is sponsored by our animal-loving friends at NorthCountry Federal Credit Union for the month of April, and her adoption includes a gift bag + $50 gift certificate to the HSCC Shelter Shop. Thank you, NorthCountry Federal Credit Union!

We are also looking for foster placement while awaiting adoption.
