PALMER's Story
Palmer is a handsome 2 year old pit bull with beautiful fawn coloring! This blocky-headed boy may look intimidating, but he tends to be affectionate, a bit goofy, and actually got a slightly delicate heart - he has a heart murmur. He's been loving getting attention of all the patrons of the shelter and showing off his tricks in the kennel. Not only is Palmer handsome, but he’s smart! He appears to know how to sit and sit up on his hind legs when prompted! Palmer has some health issues that will need to be monitored and treated throughout his life, so potential adopters should keep this in mind as it may be an ongoing expense. We don’t have any history of how he is with other dogs, cats, or children, so a meet and greet and slow introduction with any resident pets would be necessary for this big boy. This chunky hunk will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation in his new fur-ever home to keep playful side occupied. If you are looking for a big, loveable, meatloaf of a companion, come meet Palmer! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them
