PA/Nellie's Story

Meet Nellie, a sweet 3 year old French Brittany looking for a Home of her very Own!
Nellie was surrendered to NBRAN along with 9 other Brits by their previous owner who could no longer care for them due to an overwhelming series of personal hardships. Because of this, we don’t know much about Nellie’s past, but it’s clear she hasn’t experienced life as a typical family companion.
Nellie is currently in a wonderful foster home in South-West Pennsylvania and is a sweet girl with a gentle heart and so much potential. Nellie is a sensitive girl who is still learning to trust people. She can be shy and timid when first meeting new people causing her to because anxious. Nellie is also not a fan of loud noises, like motorcycles going by, loud voices. bells/tones (even those on TV), changes to her regular routine, her crate door when closed, and car rides make her extremely anxious.
When Nellie feels anxious or stressed her first instinct usually is to run for comfort, which currently is to her foster Moms. Nellie also likes to chew when she gets anxious or stressed. She enjoys filled / frozen bones, benebones and other appropriate chew toys. If those are not available Nellie will find other not so appropriate things (clothes, furniture etc...) to chew on.
Nellie’s fosters say she’s has made steady progress however her fear/anxiety of change and/or new things will probably always be apart of her character. Her new family must be willing to understand this, as well as, know that it cannot to be completely overcome. However, they can support her by providing the time, patience, security, and love she deserves.
Nellie will thrive best in home that is calm and quiet, as well as, can provide her with the structure and routine she needs to feel safe. She will need a secure physically fence in yard in her new home along with at least 1 other doggy playmate. She attached pretty quickly to her foster Moms so grown ups are no problem but children are not recommended. Nellie is up to date on vaccine, heartworm negative, spayed, micro chipped house and crate trained. She does well on leash and comes consistently when called, but most of all she deserves a place of her own to call Home Forever!
Could that be your home? If so, please consider filling out an application for Nellie/PA online at: https://nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application Once your application is submitted the coordinator in the State where you reside will follow-up with you. Need to reach your State Coordinator, find their contact information here https://nbran.org/about/state-provincial-coordinators Nellie’s adoption fee is 400.00 which will help NBRAN cover the vetting costs and other expenses associated with bringing Brit like Nellie back to good health and readying them for adoption. Don't live in PA or close by, No Problem! NBRAN also has a wonderful transport team willing to help bring Brits like Nellie to their new family, up to 1400 miles with the adoptive family being responsible for the last 100 miles, at no additional fee.
