Ozzy's Story

LOCATION: Conroe, TX
DOB: 12/16/2020

Ozzy is a gentle, easygoing soul with the calm presence of an old friend. Quiet, observant, and incredibly relaxed, he hasn’t barked once since arriving in foster care. Routine is his comfort zone, and consistency helps him feel safe. Once he understands the rhythm of a home, he settles in beautifully and becomes a steady, peaceful companion.

Ozzy’s energy level is solidly couch-potato. He prefers cozy days indoors and is happiest lounging nearby under his beloved tortilla blanket, quietly taking in the world around him. A securely fenced yard is plenty for his needs. Walks are still a work in progress as he continues building confidence, and he may refuse if he feels unsure.

Affectionate in a gentle, understated way, Ozzy enjoys cuddling with both kids and adults without being overwhelming. He blends seamlessly into family life and offers steady companionship. He loves car rides and is always happy to tag along. Chicken feet and pumpkin treats are his favorites, and food is a great motivator. He can be mildly stubborn at times—if he doesn’t want to move, he will stand his ground—but it’s more endearing than difficult.

Ozzy is fully house trained, crate trained, rides calmly in the car, and is muzzle trained. Leash manners are inconsistent, and patience will be needed as he gains confidence. He can be fearful of thunderstorms, heavy rain, high winds, fireworks, loud noises, nighttime, and unfamiliar environments. During storms or stressful situations, he needs reassurance and a calm person willing to comfort him.

He has done well meeting other dogs and was friendly when introduced to a large dog. He currently lives with a cat and has occasionally lunged but has never shown aggression; they largely coexist without issue. Ozzy has been around children of all ages, including toddlers and babies. He has tolerated climbing, pulling, and cuddling with impressive patience. He has given a single warning growl when physically hurt but has never escalated beyond that. He also remains calm when adult strangers enter the home, even unexpectedly.

Medically, Ozzy has growths on his elbows, is undergoing heartworm treatment, takes joint supplements, has a front leg limp, is underweight, and is missing his top front row of teeth. Much of his foster time has been focused on healing, and as he continues to feel better, there are likely many simple joys he has yet to experience.

Ozzy’s ideal home is calm and loving, preferably with adults or one to two children, though he can adapt. He would do best in a low-energy household without stairs, with good lighting and a fully secure fenced yard, as he can be curious about slipping under fencing. He thrives when someone is home often and when he is included in daily life. Above all, Ozzy needs patience, routine, and a family who will cherish his quiet, steady presence.
If you are looking for a devoted, low-key companion with a gentle heart, Ozzy is ready to be deeply loved.

To apply to adopt Ozzy, please complete the application:
https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176

SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match.

You can view other adoptable dogs at:
saverockythegreatdane.org/adopt

Team Rocky Enterprises, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
How Our Adoption Process Works Team Rocky Enterprises DBA Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR) follows a thoughtful adoption process designed to ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and their future families. Our available dogs are posted on our website, Facebook page, and multiple adoption platforms, including Petfinder. Once you find a dog you’re interested in, the process includes: 1. Adoption Application – This helps us learn about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a dog so we can make the best match. 2. Veterinary Reference Check – We verify that current or past pets have received appropriate veterinary care. First-time pet owners are welcome and encouraged to apply. 3. Phone Interview – This is a chance for us to talk with you about the dog you’re interested in, including personality, needs, medical history, and any quirks. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about the dog and our rescue. 4. Home Check – We confirm that your home environment is safe and appropriate for the dog, whether that includes a fenced yard or a leash-walking setup. This is not a housekeeping inspection—just a safety check. Once all steps are completed and approved, you’ll sign an adoption contract and submit an adoption donation. From there, your new forever friend will be ready to head home! Why This Process Matters Our goal is to match each dog with a home that best meets their needs. Some dogs thrive with experienced owners, while others do best with someone who is home most of the day or understands specific behavioral or medical needs. Taking the time to get this right helps ensure lifelong, successful adoptions. Our Lifetime Commitment If at any point you are unable to keep your adopted dog, you must contact us. We will always take our dogs back. We never want them to end up in unsafe situations or shelters again. Our responsibility to each dog lasts for their lifetime. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering adoption with SRGDRR.
