Oz's Story
There’s No Place Like Home… for Oz 🐾

Apply on our website if interested in Oz www.nadrs.org/adopt

Oz is an 8-year-old male Silky Terrier with a sensitive heart and a playful spirit. He’s the kind of dog who forms deep bonds with his people — loyal, affectionate, and happiest when he’s close to those he trusts. Oz is currently in foster care in Lake Cowichan.

Oz was surrendered to one of our shelter partners and we happened to be bringing Kody and Stuart up to Canada, so he got to hitch a ride to us without having to spend too much time at the shelter - it was very obvious to the shelter staff that he was going to be very stressed out and not do well in that environment for any prolonged amount of time. So we agreed he could come with Kody and Stuart too! He arrived on Feb 8, has seen our vet, and has spent time in foster care. He is now ready to find his forever land of Oz!

Don’t let his size fool you — Oz is active, agile, and full of personality. He loves his toys and lives for a good game of fetch (and yes… he brings it right back and drops it like a little retriever 🥹). He’s a smart boy, a fast learner, and very food motivated, which makes training both fun and rewarding.

Oz can be a bit unsure of the world at times. He may bark at new people, dogs, or unfamiliar noises, and he’ll need a patient, experienced adopter who understands sensitive small dogs and can help him continue building confidence. With consistency, reassurance, and love, Oz truly shines.

He enjoys the company of other dogs but can be selective, so thoughtful introductions are important.

Oz recently had a full dental cleaning with some extractions and is now feeling so much better. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered — ready for his next chapter.

Oz is looking for:
A home where someone is around most of the time
An experienced, patient, and committed adopter
A calm, loving environment where he can feel safe and understood
Someone who will embrace both his sensitive side and his playful, joyful spirit

In return, Oz will give you unwavering loyalty, cuddles, and a whole lot of personality packed into a tiny body. If you’re ready to help a special little dog feel safe, confident, and deeply loved — Oz is ready to meet you. Follow the Yellow Brick Road to Oz....

Apply on our website www.nadrs.org/adopt
