What kind of home would be best for me? Owen is a two-year-old handsome Golden Retriever mix who's a highly energetic young guy. He arrived in rescue as part of a breeder hoarding case in South Carolina. Whatever his background may have been, Owen is a happy boy! He is a playful pup and needs to join an active household. Owen loves people and would happily accompany you and your family on walks, hikes, jogs, runs and even bike rides if you don't go too fast for him. No matter what you want to do, Owen wants to be with you. Owen would be a wonderful playmate for kids older than 5. Owen will thrive with a basic obedience class, he is smart and very food and toy motivated. Like most goldens, he thrives on humans and will easily steal the show when you come to meet him.

What is my personality like? Owen loves people and wants to be around them all the time. He'll accompany you in any activity you do. When you play ball Owen likes to chase the ball, he just doesn't like to give it back. He'll keep it to chew on. Fetch is a work in progress. Owen, as most goldens do, loves to collect toys. When available he has a toy in his mouth. Owen is great with other dogs. He is even tempered and does not hold a grudge if a dog does not like him. Owen has been a dog of many for most of his life, so don't be surprised if he is seeking your dog out often during the first few weeks. Owen is almost always clean in his crate currently, which is helpful for housetraining.

How do I act when I first meet new people? Owen is a typical Golden, he has never met a stranger. He's a high energy guy and would be wonderful with children who are as energetic as he is. Owen just wants to have fun and is always up for getting and giving affection.

Other tips and tidbits: Owen's birth date is on or about 2/9/2022 according to our vet's estimate.

House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
