Otto's Story

Meet Otto

Part hiking buddy, part cuddle monster, part tiny detective with a nose that misses absolutely nothing.

Our best guess is Otto will grow into a handsome 50–70 lb adventure dog. Mom looked like a Plott Hound mix, dad looked like a Border Collie/Boxer mix, and Otto somehow got the best traits from everyone — smart, goofy, athletic, snuggly, and just chaotic enough to keep life interesting. Originally from Kansas, he's settling into home life like a pro.

Otto is crazy smart — he solved a food puzzle on day one that other foster dogs never figured out. He's highly food motivated and already learning commands like sit, lay down, high five, and roll over. Crate training is going very well, and while potty training isn't 100% consistent yet, he's picking it up quickly.

Personality-wise, Otto is equal parts rambunctious chaos gremlin and professional nap cuddler. When he's ready to play, he's cheeky, energetic, and full of zoomies. When he crashes, he wants to be curled up right next to his humans. He loves following people around like a very committed intern.

Otto is socializing well with both humans and dogs, though he's still very much a puppy and gets overexcited sometimes — expect enthusiastic jumping, puppy antics, and plenty of puppy bites while he learns boundaries. He absolutely lights up around kids, but because he's still in his bitey puppy era, he'd do best with a family that understands puppy behavior.

His current hobbies include:

• Investigating the yard like it's a crime scene
• Causing mild chaos
• Getting the zoomies at full speed
• Learning tricks for snacks
• Passing out mid-adventure while cuddling you

If you're looking for a smart, hilarious, affectionate adventure buddy who will keep you laughing and keep your couch warm, Otto's your guy.
