From the moment he arrived, it was clear this sweet boy has so much love to givebut he was also quietly carrying a lot of discomfort.</p><br/><br/><p data-start="320" data-end="671">During his veterinary exam, Otis was diagnosed with a Grade 4 luxating patella, the most severe form of kneecap dislocation. This means his kneecap is permanently out of place, causing significant pain and limiting his ability to move comfortably. Despite this, Otis has remained gentle, affectionate, and trustingeverything we love about this breed.</p><br/><br/><p data-start="673" data-end="875">And here's the best partOtis is truly the whole package. He is cat approved, dog friendly, and perfectly house trained. He's the kind of dog who settles in quickly and just wants to be near his people.</p><br/><br/><p data-start="877" data-end="916">The good news: there is a path forward.</p><br/><br/><p data-start="918" data-end="1159">Otis is scheduled for corrective surgery next week, which will stabilize his knee and give him the comfort and mobility he deserves. Our adoption process begins with an application submitted by the potential adopter. An adoption coordinator then reviews the application and conducts a phone interview to learn more about the family. If initially approved, we complete a home visit, background check, and reference check. Once fully approved, our adoption and foster coordinators work together to find the best match for the dogs in our care. Finally, a meet-and-greet is scheduled, and if it’s a good fit, the adoption contract is signed — leading to a happily ever after!
