Oscar's Story

Meet Oscar — A Loyal Little Shadow Looking for His Forever Person

Oscars world changed overnight when the person he had loved for his entire life was suddenly gone.

For eight years, Oscar spent most of his time beside his mommy. When she had to be taken to the hospital and could not return home, kind people came by to feed him and let him outside—but Oscar continued to wait. No matter how long he watched and hoped, his mommy never walked back through the door.

Eventually, the people helping Oscars family contacted Music City Animal Rescue and asked us to bring him into our program. When Oscar arrived at his foster home, he was confused and heartbroken. He paced, cried and searched for the only person and home he had ever known.

But love has a way of reaching even the most worried little heart.

After several days of patience, reassurance and gentle attention, Oscar began to understand that he was safe. His sweet personality slowly emerged, and we discovered what a loving and devoted companion he truly is.

Oscar is approximately 8 years old and wants nothing more than to be close to his person. He will immediately join you when you sit down, happily curling up beside you while you watch television. At bedtime, he would love to sleep beside you and will remain settled there throughout the night. He enjoys car rides and is always ready to tag along on an adventure—or simply keep you company while you go about your day.

Quite frankly, Oscar doesn't seem to know that he is a dog. He believes he is a very small, furry best friend!

Oscar also loves his toys. He will grab a favorite, roll onto his back and entertain himself, or chase it when you throw it. Sometimes he will even bring it back—provided he is in the mood to share!

He is friendly with people, gets along with other dogs and walks nicely on a leash. Because Oscar has spent most of his life receiving one-on-one companionship, he would be happiest in a home where someone is around frequently and can give him plenty of love and attention.

Oscar does have one important habit his future family must understand: he is a door darter and will try to run through an open door or gate. His family will need to be careful, use secure entrances and make sure he is always safely leashed outside. We believe that once Oscar feels secure in a permanent home—and understands that his person is not going to disappear—he may begin to relax. Until then, vigilance will be essential.

Oscar could be an absolutely wonderful companion for a single person looking for a devoted buddy, an older adult who spends a lot of time at home, or a family able to include him in their daily lives and shower him with attention.

Oscar is:

Neutered
Up to date on vaccinations
Current on preventatives
Heartworm negative
Good with other dogs
Friendly with people
Leash trained
An excellent snuggler and car-riding companion

Oscar has already lost the only home he ever knew. Now he needs someone willing to show him that love can return—and this time, it can last forever.

For more information about adopting Oscar, please contact MusicCityAnimalRescue@gmail.com.

Give this precious lover boy a chance, and we believe you will fall completely in love.
