Oscar's Story

Name: Oscar
Nickname: Handsome. Sir.
Breed: Bully Mix
Age: ~6-8 Years Old
Weight: 86 lbs (He’s a thicc boy)
Before OMD: Oscar was picked up as a stray and brought to animal control. We saw his picture, fell in love, and welcomed him into the rescue.
Energy Level: Exceptionally Low. He loves his walks and a quick game of fetch, but he is also down to hang on the couch all day and binge-watch your new series with you. He’s a big Love Island fan.
Descriptors: Have you ever dreamed of living with a land manatee? A nice chunky guy who just wants to attach himself to you and graze grass with the occasional couple of short runs.
What we love most: The way he gently puts his paw on your knee to get your attention, his dramatic belly flop onto the ground before he starts rolling in the grass, his dramatic flop onto the floor when you get back from a short walk, how every day is the best day for Oscar.
What he loves most: His people, car rides, being outside, politely de-stuffing toys (he will leave the stuffing and squeaker for you to clean up), tennis balls, and eating grass
What he doesn't love: Walking in high traffic areas (cars/trucks can scare him if the road is close to the sidewalk)
What he knows: Sit, Wait (at meal time), lie down, paw
What he is working on: Oscar is working on his greetings while on leash. He is amazing on leash normally but when he sees another person or animal he gets overly excited and NEEDS to say hi. He comes in hot and uses his mouth to say hi which obviously isn’t really anyone’s preferred greeting style. He is working to stay in a sit while people/animals pass and has been doing great!
Kids: Oscar would be best with older (over 8 years old), dog-savvy kids. Due to his size, he tends to get a little too excited and may accidentally hurt a small child.
Dogs: Yes (lived with two larger females in foster), but may need a slow intro due to previously mentioned enthusiasm (see “What he’s working on”)
Cats: Unknown
House trained: Absolutely, he’s a rockstar!
Crate trained: Yes, but honestly, he’s pretty perfect outside of his crate. He just finds a spot to snooze until his favorite people get home.
Moonlights as: A weighted blanket
Life motto: “Let me just scooch right in here”
Ideal Home: Oscar is quiet guy who enjoys a quiet home. He would love a home with some grass for him to roll around in and a comfy spot to watch tv with his people
Oscar is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from our website.
