Oreo's Story
Oreo avoided human help for two months before rescue, but has since learned that he LOVES people and is quite the snuggle bug. Prior to Oreo coming to us, he had been roaming the Metroparks and evading capture. When he finally gave in to the help, it was found that he had a badly infected injury to his tail, resulting in full amputation. Since being in a foster home, Oreo has learned all about the joys of living in a home! He learned sit and down within days, and perfected the art of couch snuggles in no time at all. He is friendly and curious when it comes to the cats in his foster home, and could definitely live with cats that are accepting of a big, playful dog. He is equally as excited to see other dogs and may come on a little strong and over the top at first, but he has potential to be a great friend when given time to settle in and take introductions slowly.
Oreo is fully house and crate trained, and loves sticking to his daily routine. He doesn't require a whole lot of physical activity, and actually prefers shorter walks. He is strong and still learning some leash manners but this boy is so smart, we know it won't take long for him to master the loose leash too.

If you are interested in meeting Oreo, you can apply on our website www.mercysdoorpetrescue.org.
